The Wolfram Language now ships with a more feature-rich script interpreter that is capable of running code from the command line using either local or cloud kernels.
Run code using the local Wolfram kernel:
wolframscript.swf
The same code can be evaluated in the cloud. If no local kernel were available, the cloud would be used automatically.
Compare evaluations using local and cloud kernels:
